Our winter is always snowy. Ruka slopes are open from the beginning of October until early May. Ski trails are in great condition from November to April. Winter sceneries can be admired on snowshoe trails too!

The snowmobile route usually open in early December, and depending on the snow situation, the joy of snowmobile safaris lasts until April. Other adventures include husky dog sled rides, visits to reindeer farms, horseback riding and excotic river floating.

Indoor activities include a visit to the Santa's cottage and enjoyable Finnish sauna experiences. You can also visit Santa's cottage in the summer, because he has a summer cottage in Kuusamo - like many of our other summer guests!

More and more people have already become familiar with the versatile summer offer in the Kuusamo area. Hikers go on the Karhunkierros and shorter hiking trails in the area from May to October, and of course you can continue hiking during winter with snowshoes.

River rafting season starts at the end of May and lasts well into October. Ruka-Kuusamo's Summer Weekly Programme is valid from the beginning of June to the end of September. July is a favorite vacation time for families, when Ruka's Summer Sled Track and the area's hiking and biking trails and other adventures are bustling with activity.

Hikers admiring the autumn colors conquer the hiking trails Ruka area and the nearby national parks in September. Kuusamo's fishy rivers Kitka, Oulanka and Kuusinki attract fishermen throughout the summer fishing season during 1.6.-31.8.

We also have a few "forces of nature" that attract guests from all over the world. The midnight sun (or the nightless night, as some say) can be admired from May to August. On the other hand, you can see the Northern Lights when the evenings get dark from September to April.

The surprisingly lightful Polar Night and the freezing temperatures of the winter are enjoyed from November to February-March. Our adventure providers offer a wide range of activities for every season. Professional guide and suitable gear for all weathers come with the package.

In addition to outdoor activities, there are also lots of nice things to do indoors and in the evenings. Different sauna experiences and pampering treatments are definitely worth checking out. Our numerous restaurants offer delicacies prepared with skill from local ingredients.
