From your log cabin, you can easily reach Ruka village for a night out by taxi, and the same applies for other services and restaurants that are not located within walking distance from Ruka village. A taxi ride is an easy and convenient solution, particularly with larger groups. Taxis are very reliable in Ruka-Kuusamo area regarding correct taxi fees and finding their way to the right places. Taxi drivers can also give you good tips about the area!

Taxis in Ruka-Kuusamo are primarily minibuses, which means there is plenty of space for skiing and snowboarding equipment, too. When arriving by plane, we recommend pre-booking a taxi for the airport.

Coming by plane with a larger group or staying somewhere other than Ruka village?

We recommend booking a taxi to the airport in advance. A taxi ride from Kuusamo Airport to Ruka village or Ruka Valley costs about 80 €/direction for 1-4 people and about 100 €/direction for 5-8 people. These are approximate prices, and we recommend confirming the exact price at the time of booking. Links to taxi services are at the bottom of this page.

Shared taxi to Karhunkierros Trail

A shared taxi is a great option for getting to Karhunkierros Trail. For security reasons, we recommend leaving your car in either the Ruka parking garage, parking areas in the Ruka area or in Karhunkierros Trail Visitor Centre in Hautajärvi along Sallantie (950). The most popular option is to leave your car in Ruka and take a bus or taxi to Hautajärvi and then hike the Karhunkierros Trail towards Ruka.

Otaxi shared taxi to Karhunkierros leaves daily at 9.00 at the taxi centre in front of Restaurant Zone in Ruka village (no pre-bookings needed). Otherwise call Rukan Taksipalvelu and give the date, time and number of people going to Karhunkierros Trail (as well as the desired starting point of the hike in Karhunkierros).
