When you arrive by car, you can find many parking areas on different sides of the fell. We have compiled a list of recommended parking areas.

Plenty of parking in the Ruka area
The heated Ruka Parking Hall next to the slopes
Ruka’s underground garage is absolutely the easiest parking facility. The parking hall is only some twenty metres from the slopes and all the services of Ruka village. The prices of Ruka Parking Hall are easy on the pocket.
Short-term parking close to shops
In addition, parking areas for short-term parking are available in the vicinity of commercial premises. These include the parking areas behind and in front of Shopping Centre Kumpare, the area in front of Ruka Conference Centre (with the exception of areas designed for Scandic Rukahovi’s customer parking and bus parking) and the parking area at Sale Ruka. These short-term parking areas are often full during high season, which is why we recommend taking a look at other parking areas, especially on the Vuosseli side.
The parking areas listed below are along the SkiBus route in the Ruka area. The SkiBus is free of charge in the Ruka area with a valid ski pass or when travelling with skiing or snowboarding gear.

Park only in permitted areas
Parking in Ruka village area is supervised by ParkkiPate from 1.8.2023 onwards. The goal is to increase safety and comfort in Ruka village area.
Parking along Karhunkierros Trail
Please note that at the Karhunkierros Visitor Centre in Hautajärvi (as well as at Basecamp Oulanka along the Pieni Karhunkierros), day visitors and hotel guests can park for free (including hikers on the Pieni Karhunkierros trail). Overnight parking is charged at 10 €/day due to the limited number of parking spaces.
There are also parking spaces for camper vans at the Karhunkierros Visitor Centre and Basecamp Oulanka. These can be reserved on the matkaparkki.com website or via the mobile app (search for Napapiiri Cafe or Karhunkierroksen Luontokeskus). The price is 11-16 €/day depending on whether the space includes electricity or not.
Charging stations for electric cars
More electric car charging points are being built all the time, both in Ruka-Kuusamo area and along the way. You can find the most up-to-date information on the latauskartta.fi. High-power chargers can be found on the roads leading to Ruka. Below is a list of chargers in Ruka-Kuusamo area.
- Ruka village: Ruka Parking Hall 5 x 22 kW Type 2, 2 x 3,6 kW. (Parking subject to a separate fee.)
- Ruka Valley: Parking lot 20 x 22 kW Type 2 (NEW 12/2024)
- Ruka Valley: Vuosselinportti Rental Shop 4 x 22 kW Type 2.
- Talvijärvi: Parking lot 6 x 22 kW Type 2 (NEW 12/2024)
- Magical Pond x 6 (regular charding speed), available according to the opening hours of the reception. Charging stations are located nearby the reception and are available to all guests with a separate fee.
- Iisakki Glass Village x 1.
- Rukalodge: Own charger for all 12 apartments.
Charging stations in Kuusamo centre:
- Tourism and Culture Centre Karhuntassu: 2 x 300 kW CSS.
- Holiday Club Kuusamon Tropiikki 4 x 22 kW Type 2, charging and prices with Virta mobile app, 2 x 22 kW Tesla Destination Charger, free for Tesla drivers.
- K-Citymarket Kuusamo 2 x 200 kW CSS, 1 x 50 kW CHAdeMO, 4 x 11 kW Type 2.

- ABC Kuusamo 22 kW, 50 kW and 150 kW (amount N/A).

New charging stations in Ruka Valley and Talvijärvi for 2024
In mid-December 2024, a total of 26 electric vehicle charging stations with a power output of 22 kW each have been opened in Ruka for electric cars and plug-in hybrids. Of these, 20 charging points are located in the parking area in front of Hotel RukaValley, right next to the slopes and the gondola station. Six charging points can be found in the Talvijärvi parking area, conveniently close to the Talvijärvi anchor lift. The maximum capacity of the Valley chargers is 250 kW, while Talvijärvi offers 66 kW, ensuring a minimum charging power of 11 kW at all times.
The charging points have been strategically placed to serve all Ruka visitors during the day and to provide dedicated access for guests staying in Ski-Inn Apartments during the night.
The new charging stations were implemented by Rukakeskus Oy and are part of eParking's extensive network of 75,000 chargers. To use the service, you need to download the eParking app, which already has 350,000 users.
