Kids in Ruka ski resort anniversary year

Ruka offers free ski lift tickets to all 10-year-olds in Finland during its anniversary year

Published on July 18, 2024

Ruka supports children's snow sports by offering free lift tickets to all 10-year-old Finnish citizens for the entire winter season. Encouraging children and young people to participate in snow sports is one of the main goals of the ski resort, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

In the upcoming season, all children in Finland who turn 10 will get free access to the slopes at Ruka and Pyhä. Every child born in 2014 will receive free lift tickets for the entire 2024-2025 season, allowing them to ski at the resorts. Ruka and Pyhä regularly develop their sustainability programs, and since 2019, all 10-year-olds in the surrounding areas have skied at the resorts for free.

Supporting the activity and well-being of children and families, developing the sport culture, and taking care of the environment are important parts of Ruka's responsibility as the resort turns 70. These meaningful goals for the ski resort will be visible and audible on the slopes, at events, and on social media channels in the coming season – even in its anniversary year, Ruka remains joyful, fair, and litter-free.

In addition to free lift tickets for children, Ruka supports talented skiers with junior scholarships and engages in sponsorship collaborations with several young people. Ruka aims to ensure that future generations will also have the opportunity to enjoy skiing and the joys of snow.
